Twitter.com attaches Location to Tweets

Mar 12th, 2010 Posted in News, Social Media, Twitter | No Comments »

Twitter on Thursday activated a location-tagging feature that will allow users to add their location information with the updates posted on the site.

Every day, millions of tweets are created. These little bursts of information are about anything and everything—they make Twitter a hub for discovering what’s happening right now, anywhere in the world. A recent burst of interest in location sharing applications, games, and services has many Twitter users excited about appending geographic data to some of their tweets.

Not everyone wants to add their current location to a tweet so this feature is off by default and must be activated to use.

Check out How To Tweet with Your Location to learn how you can turn it on.

People who choose to add this additional layer of context help make Twitter a richer information network – location data can make tweets more useful.

There are many ways location data can be useful when paired with tweets.

7 Ways to increase followers on Twitter

Mar 8th, 2010 Posted in Social Media, Technology, Tvider, Twitter | No Comments »

Twitter is a powerful platform for increasing exposure for your brand and broadcasting your message to a growing targeted audience.

The best way to get a bigger following on Twitter is to tweet regularly and post informative, valuable tweets that people want to read.

1) Create an Attractive Twitter Profile :
Twitter is meant to be a tool to connect to people with the same interests as you. Fill out your bio. Your bio is the only place you have to tell people who you are. A good bio will give other users the context to keep in touch with you.

2) Retweeting:
Retweeting is another way to increase followers. Re-tweeting is a popular way to share a useful or interesting tweet. Re tweeting pushes your @username into foreign social graphs, resulting in clicks back to your profile

3) Twitter Lists:
Twitter List is a list of people on Twitter that are brought together under one profile so that all of the aggregated tweets can be seen in one place. By getting added to a Twitter List, your exposure, traffic, and followers on Twitter will be increased dramatically – especially as the popularity of that Twitter List that you’re part of grows.

4) Encouraging Conversation and Offering Value:
The best way to grow your number of followers on Twitter is to engage yourself as much as possible. Make sure to reply to Tweets from other accounts, and communicate with other users through the Direct Messages feature. Make tweets that encourage conversation: ask compelling questions, ask for opinions, and discuss controversial and interesting topics with other users.
Offering value is the easiest way to make people remember you. For Ex. Start a contest that offers a prize for following your account.

5) Maximize Visibility through Social Media Profiles :
Place links to your Twitter profile everywhere. Link it on Social Networking sites, blogs, email signature, and everywhere else you are online. People will follow you because they want to know you more and this can be a way to generate leads.

6) Tweet your Pictures/Videos:
Upload Videos and Photos to Twitter. Pictures and Videos are heavily retweeted. There are an array of Twitter mobile apps and Tvider is one such Twitter app which gives you the ability to tweet multimedia, on spur of the moment using mobile or computer.

7) Twitter Directories:
Add yourself to twitter directories as you will get constant followers .Add yourself in proper category, because this way you will get targeted followers.

Twitter is a great resource for web site traffic and to keep you informed about the world around you.

Twitter Opens Up to Real-Time Search with 7 Startups

Mar 2nd, 2010 Posted in News, Social Media, Twitter | No Comments »

Twitter announced on its official blog that it is granting a handful of new search startups partners full access to all its data feed of public tweets— a.k.a. the “Firehose”.

According to the blog post, the company is “happily turning the Firehose on for some new partners focused mainly on exploring the incredibly rich field of real-time search and discovery.”

Earlier the full spectrum of data available in the “Firehose” was previously only available to Yahoo, Google and Microsoft. With this announcement, Ellerdale, Collecta, Kosmix, Scoopler, twazzup, CrowdEye, and Chainn Search will all join on as partners with Twitter and have access to the entirety of Twitter’s data stream in real time. These companies range from funded startups to part-time, one-person operations so theye came up with a fair way to license access that scales with their business.

With access to the full Firehose of data, it is possible to move far beyond the Twitter experiences we know today.

Tvider.com undergoes major production upgrade

Feb 19th, 2010 Posted in Misc | No Comments »

Tvider content will be hosted to S3 Amazon disk servers now onwards. Due to this major production upgrade on Tvider.com, Tvider’s current mobile clients might face some difficulties.

The probable issue likely to arise is:

Media tweets might not get viewed / played, since there is some trouble in downloading from the newly migrated servers. (Media is downloaded first and then played.)

This issue has been solved in the latest version of the Tvider application for all mobile platforms.
We strongly recommend Tvider mobile users to download the updated version for an uninterrupted media tweeting experience!

Kindly mail to support@tvider.com , in case any problem other than that mentioned above, is faced.
