In August Twitter had announced that they were working on a new API that would provide developers with the ability to geotag tweets. Now, the Geotagging API is officially available and mentioned on the Twitter blog.
This release is unique in that it’s API-only which means you won’t see any changes on twitter.com.
The new geotagging capabilities can already be seen in certain third-party apps and might even come to the web interface sometime soon.
Twitter applications like Birdfeed, Seesmic Web, Foursquare, Gowalla, Twidroid, Twittelator Pro and others are already supporting this new functionality in interesting ways that include geotagging your tweets and displaying the location from where a tweet was posted.

“The added information provides valuable context when reading your friends tweets and allows you to better focus in on local conversations,” writes Twitter platform/API man Ryan Sarver in the blog post.
To activate the new feature, Twitter users must go to their Settings pages and click “Enable Geotagging.” For obvious privacy reasons, the feature is not automatically enabled.

Tvider has received some good reviews from users online.
1 ) Twi5.com-A directory of twitter applications, twitter apps, web based apps says
“Tvider helps you share media such as images, videos and audio on Twitter.
The application has a cool mobile application that lets you click and share images and videos easily on Twitter. Now this can be a fun and useful thing for the many twitter users who extensively use their mobiles for twittering. The mobile application is available for Blackberry, iPhone as well as a host of other phones which support J2ME apps (I guess a lot of them do!).
Desktop users can use the webcam app to record and share videos on twitter. Tvider seems like a promising twitter application and I hope all of you find it useful.”
2) Killerstartups.com -User driven internet startups community for entrepreneurs, investors and bloggers says
“Forget about Twitter being a mere messaging platform. The truth couldn’t be more removed from that, what with the endless array of apps that expand on Twitter’s inherent capabilities. A case in point: the Tvider website.
As you can tell from the title of the review, it is a service that will let you tweet out videos along with audio and pictures. The video files that are shared in this way are limited in size (no file can exceed 10 MB), but that’s it. You can tweet out pretty much anything except for copyrighted or adult content. But if you want to tweet out a spirited rendition of “Rocking In The Free World” or a video of your son performing at Thanksgiving you can do that on the spot.
As it is the case with sites which are made up of contributions put forth by users, you can see the most notable ones in the main page. In this way, you can realize what it is that people are tweeting out the most and gauge the collective sentiment on any trending topic with little to no effort.”
3) Techie-buzz.com – A source of Technology News, Views, Tips and Tricks for thousands of users says
Tvider is a great app since it eliminates the hassle to deal with 2 or 3 different apps for your different media needs. The webcam feature allows you to record something quickly and share it onTwitter without the need of going to a 3rd party software.
